Working America To Help Unemployed
An affiliate of the AFL-CIO is planning to create monthly meetings in multiple cities in the United States to help unemployed workers find jobs.
Working America, a partner of the labor union, started a campaign called "America Wants to Work," in cities such as Denver, Colorado; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Portland, Oregon; and Minneapolis, Minnesota, according to The Huffington Post. The goal is to have conferences in these cities to expose workers to employment opportunities and encourage them to be politically active.
"We've had several meetings and we're coming together to provide services and support to anyone in the community who is unemployed," Chelsey Evans, the state director of Working America for New Mexico, told the news source. "We're finding that a lot of people really struggle to navigate through this extremely complex system, whether it's unemployment, rental assistance, utility assistance, job counseling."
Many workers who have been out of a job for an extended period of time experience financial troubles because of the lack of income. These consumers typically need some sort of debt relief while they are unemployed. If someone is in this situation, it may be wise to seek some sort of aid.
New government regulations in place for consumers in need of debt relief for credit cards and other unsecured debts.
