Recession Risk Heightens
A recent survey found economic experts have an increased fear of another recession on the horizon.
The survey, compiled by CNN Money, revealed 18 economists think the United States has a 15 percent chance of another downturn - a number much higher than previously thought.
"We came off a great Christmas and some nice jobs reports," Gary Rosenberger of EconoPlay, told the news source. "Then came storms and tsunamis and tornadoes. Who would have guessed that the economic recovery would hinge on the shifting of tectonic plates and global climate change?"
Rosenberger thought there was not much chance of a recession at the beginning of the year, the news source reported. This belief was shared by many who took part in the poll.
The economy's overall outlook has been poor of late. With multiple poor unemployment reports, as well as less-than-stellar housing price information, consumers have been more disappointed than usual.
For consumers who struggle with credit card debt, it may be wise to pay off as much as possible, as well as curb spending. This is because a recession can contribute to a person damaging their credit.
