Employee Confidence On The Decline
A recent report by Glassdoor showed that while many consumers are satisfied with their current jobs, a large amount are not confident that their jobs are secure.
The Glassdoor Employment Confidence Survey for the second quarter found 30 percent of consumers are more satisfied with their employment situation than they were 12 months earlier. In addition, more than 20 percent of consumers are concerned about layoffs. Nearly 30 percent of Americans living in the West are worried about being laid off, specifically.
"It's clear that the psyche of American workers has been measurably shaken as a result of recent discouraging economic reports, said Rusty Rueff, career and workplace expert for Glassdoor. "While company layoffs have abated in recent months, employees may be preparing themselves for what they think will be another round of belt-tightening if the economy doesn't improve."
Due to the struggling economy, many consumers who are not confident their employment will last may not want to accrue large amounts of debt. Unemployment can make it very difficult to pay off bills, and these people may have a difficult time finding a debt relief program.
