Those who graduate from college soon are subject to piles of bills and expenses, especially when they land their first job. But in order to stay on top of bills, these young people need to tread carefully.
Keeping track of personal monetary values is very important for those entering working life, according to a guest column by credit expert Andrew Housser for WDAM. Also, make sure to pay every bill on time, as a consumer's credit score will be damaged for every late payment that is made.
Try to pay off credit card debt as quickly as possible, Housser said. Staying above the minimum payment will help cut down interest and actually take out the debt, and this practice is recommended for consumers who want to get their ratings on a positive track.
If a job offers to pay off any or all student loans, take initiative and accept the offer, Housser said. The program will make financial decisions much easier, and the money is free. Any offer, whether it is a bulk payment, matching fees or just assistance, it is certainly worth it.
