Credit Card Debt Can Be Conquered
Many people who are mired in credit card debt do not know the best ways to fix their situation, but if a consumer maintains a positive strategy, it may not be as difficult as he or she thinks.
If a consumer has more than one credit card, it may not be the card with the highest balance that should be paid off, but instead that of the card with the largest interest rate, according to New York news source NY1.
When paying off a card, be sure to never just pay a minimum fee, as consumers need to be proactive and avoid just paying interest, the news source reported.
"Even an extra 10 or 15 dollars a month makes a big difference in the long term and that strategy ensures that your money is going toward the balance and not towards the interest fees," said Emma Pfeffer, senior associate editor of Family Circle, according to the news source.
Also, it is imperative to not add new charges to the card, the news source added. Every new charge will hurt progress and make paying off the bill that much more stressful.
