Americans Worried About Unemployment Situation
More than half of Americans think too many consumers are unemployed, according to the Job Creators Alliance Poll, conducted at the end of June.
The previous poll, which occurred at the beginning of May, showed that only 37 percent of people were worried about unemployment more than anything else related to the economy. Government spending is another significant worry for Americans, and the percentage of people concerned about it increased to 29 percent in June, compared to 25 percent during the month of May.
Consumers are becoming less worried about gasoline prices, as approximately 20 percent of those polled expressed increased concern about the issue, compared to last month's 38 percent. Gas prices dropped significantly since May's edition of the poll was released.
Another interesting aspect of the poll was that a large amount of Americans are concerned about multiple aspects of government operation. A total of 65 percent of consumers were not happy with government operation when it comes to not only spending, but also taxes and regulation.
Credit card debt is a large issue for consumers, as employment gains have hit a snag as of late. For those who are currently without work, it could be a good idea to curb use of plastic until another opportunity comes along.
